Selank Side Effects

Selank is a synthetic analogue of the immune peptide Tuftsin, developed for anxiolytic and cognitive effects. It is generally well tolerated with a mild side effect profile. Many patients describe the effects as calming without sedation.

Side effects to be aware of

Injection site reactions

Common

Mild redness or swelling at the injection site, as with any subcutaneous injection.

Mild sedation or fatigue

Uncommon

Some patients feel slightly relaxed or tired after administration. This is often reported as part of the anxiolytic effect and is generally mild.

Reduced anxiety (desired, not adverse)

Common

Selank is specifically used for anxiolytic effects. In some patients the anxiolytic response is stronger than expected and can feel mildly sedating.

Who is a good candidate?

Generally suitable for
  • Adults with anxiety, stress, or mood concerns
  • Those seeking cognitive support alongside anxiolytic effects
  • Patients who have not tolerated conventional anxiolytics well
Not suitable for
  • Patients who cannot tolerate any degree of sedation (e.g., those requiring high mental alertness)
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women

Contraindications

Administration note

Available as subcutaneous injection or nasal spray. Nasal form (Selank Nasal) is commonly used for direct CNS access.

When to contact your physician

  • Nausea, vomiting, or digestive symptoms that are severe or do not ease within two weeks
  • Any chest pain, palpitations, or significant change in heart rate
  • Signs of allergic reaction: rash, hives, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing
  • Injection site reactions that worsen, spread, or do not resolve within 72 hours
  • Any new or worsening symptoms that concern you, regardless of whether they seem related to your protocol
